The time had finally arrived! MOVE IN DAY! Saturday night is where it all began. Rachel and I went through the whole check in process where we got our keys and we were off to find our building! We came into our apartment to find one of our other roommates in there as well, Hannah. She was almost finished moving in and was about to head out, but we met her briefly and she is amazing! The night was full of unpacking, organizing, grocery shopping, and a lot of exhaustion. But, it was worth it!
Sunday we went to a combined church meeting with everyone who had checked in already that was in our stake. It was wonderful! The people here are so friendly, welcoming, and fun to be around! Rachel and I stayed after church and talked with some of the new people we were meeting. We got to meet our RA as well and she is just wonderful!
Later on my parents and family stopped by with some of my last things I had left out in Draper. My mom and I also finally put up my decorations in my room, which I was super excited about! I have a big map of the world hanging above my desk which I will use to mark all of my friends' mission calls as they start coming in. Rachel's should be coming within the next week or so and we are both dying in anticipation!! Above my bed I have some places to hang pictures and such and then some of those Dixie cup lights that I was so excited to make. Let's just say my room is kind of an explosion of pinterest ideas...
The last thing we did was a BYU tradition that we were testing out. On the way to one of the buildings on campus there is this tunnel and every Sunday night anyone who wants to meets up there and sings hymns for an hour. Another one of our roommates, Brooke (who is also freaking amazing), had moved in by now so she came with us. It was such a wonderful experience to have all of those students together, singing hymns, and hearing it echo throughout the tunnel. Halfway through the hour we all sat down and anyone who had received their LDS mission calls would stand up and announce their hometown, where they are going on their mission, and when they leave. It was perfect. At this point I had only been at BYU for not much over 24 hours and I already love the school so much. The whole feel of the campus and the people on it. Everything.
After the tunnel singing my roommates and I walked over to the Bell Tower with some friends and were just hanging out and talking for a while and looking at the awesome view. Like I said, I am just LOVING it here! I'm glad I'm able to have this time before school starts to get settled in and what not before I get completely stressed out with all of my classes and my job.
